We have been investigating the market to find the best solution to manage the upgrade of smoke alarms in your property to meet the new 2022 legislation and we are pleased to recommend Safe Home Services as a local supplier who have put together a tailored solution for us.
As well as completing the regular compliance inspections we require, Safe Home Services will manage the upgrade of your property in a way that suits you. Our recommendation is to commence a gradual upgrade, installing alarms at an all-inclusive fee of $215 per alarm, over the next 3-4 years. The property will reach compliance by the 2022 deadline and the cost is spread over a number of years. Obviously, the sooner this commences, the better for a gradual upgrade.
The alternative is upgrading the property all at once, with costs to be covered in the same way. If you prefer this to occur, Safe Home Services will provide a quote specific to your property’s floor plan and requirements.
Your property is currently being serviced by Smoke Alarm Solutions and Safe Home Services will honour our current arrangement until its expiry.
After that subscription ends Safe Home Services provide the following service options :
Protection – This provides as many checks of the smoke alarms and safety switch sighting as we require, either between tenancies or in keeping with the annual requirements. The smoke alarm checks include replacement of batteries, cleaning of alarms and checks to make sure each alarm is located in the best position to ensure your tenants and property is safe. This is at a yearly cost of $76.
Protection+ – This provides as many checks of the smoke alarms and safety switch testing as we require, either between tenancies or in keeping with the annual requirements. The smoke alarm checks include replacement of batteries, cleaning of alarms and checks to make sure each alarm is located in the best position to ensure your tenants and property is safe This is at a yearly cost of $86.
Blind Compliance – An audit of all window fittings to ensure they meet the required safety standards. All warning labels and tensioning devices used to secure cords, chains etc are no extra cost. This is completed at each scheduled inspection, at a yearly cost of $96.
Combo Package – This provides the Protection+ plan as well as Blind Compliance. This is a discounted yearly cost of only $149.
Please note, owing to the changes in Legislation, any alarm that is installed must meet the new Australian Standards. Each alarm is provided and installed at a cost of $215. The alarms that Safe Home Services installs meet the required standards and the new Legislation. Any alarm installed today will be interconnected to additional replacement alarms that are installed, gradually bringing your property to the 2022 benchmark.
How much will this cost?
Safe Home Services installs and replaces alarms for one simple flat fee of $215 (incl GST) per alarm.
Don’t worry – if you nominate a gradual upgrade, your current alarms will be the last to be replaced, so you still get the best value from them.
What kind of alarms are best?
Safe Home Services has selected the Brooks range of alarms for all their work. Not only do they have an excellent reputation for durability and quality, each alarm comes with a 5 year warranty, so if there is a fault within the alarm, they simply replace the alarm, no questions asked. Brooks hard wired alarms are equipped with 10 year non removable battery, so your property will always be protected, no matter how long the power may be disconnected.
How many alarms do I need to install?
The layout of your property determines how many alarms are required. In most cases the current alarms will be replaced, and new alarms installed in each of the bedrooms.
